EAA Urban Archaeology Community Newsletter (9/2024)

Hello all,

It has been about three weeks since the congress in Rome. What a great congress and a fantastic city!
We as Urban Archaeology Community can also look back on a good congress. The pre-conference dinner was great fun, our annual business meeting took some concrete steps towards a synthesis for Urban Archaeology in Europe and our session was very well attended with over 45 participants.
Unfortunately, the hybrid part did let us down a bit which made it not so easy for others to always join the various activities.

And so one congress is over and we already have to prepare for the next one. The call for sessions has just been released. During the next two monthly online meetings, we can start thinking together about what our session there could look like and prepare a proposal.

Monthly meetings
If all goes well, everyone should already have received meeting requests for the monthly meetings. Attendance varies, but at the same time it became clear during the business meeting that everyone likes it when these continue to take place. The alternating character of a different day of the week was also well received. I tried to take that into account as much as possible.

The first deadline for contributions has passed. Several articles are already in, a few are still a bit late. In any case, things are moving along.

The next two monthly meetings are on:
- Tuesday 1 October (15-16 hrs CET)
- Wednesday, November 6 (15-16 hours CET)

If you are not a member, just become one by filling in the form on this website.

Hope to see you then!

All the best,
Jeroen
